Slack Integration

Slack and FireMon Cloud Defense Integration

The integration for Slack provides a communication channel for handling Cloud Defense alerts and actions within Slack. Users can configure Alerts in Cloud Defense that allow teams to take action on security and operational events that occur in an organization’s cloud infrastructure.

Setup and Configuration

The integration is set up from the Cloud Defense console by an admin. The person setting up the integration must have the ability to add an app from the directory to their workspace.

  1. Start by opening up the Cloud Defense console and go to Settings | Integration | Slack
  2. Make sure you are logged in to your target Slack Organization
  3. Select to set up a recipient connection, then select Slack
  4. Select "Install App for Slack"
  5. The Slack OAuth approval app should open in a separate browser window
  6. Make sure you have selected the correct Slack Organization via the drop-down in the upper right.
  7. Review the requested permissions
  8. Select "Allow"
  9. At this point you will be back at the Cloud Defense console with the message "Successfully Installed the FireMon Cloud Defense App for Slack"

Using the Cloud Defense App for Slack

You can now enable Alerts to Slack by first setting up your personal alert settings, then configuring Alert rules.
