EC2 Instance Type Is Paravirtual
Overview
This control verifies if an EC2 instance is paravirtual. It fails if the instance's virtualizationType is set to paravirtual.
Linux Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) use either paravirtual (PV) or hardware virtual machine (HVM) virtualization. The main differences are in the boot process and the utilization of hardware extensions for enhanced performance. While PV guests historically outperformed HVM guests, recent advancements have mitigated this performance gap.
