Elastic Load Balancer Does Not Span Multiple Availability Zones

Overview

This check assesses whether a Classic Load Balancer is set up to operate across multiple Availability Zones. The validation does not succeed if the Classic Load Balancer is not configured to span multiple Availability Zones.

A Classic Load Balancer can be arranged to distribute incoming requests among Amazon EC2 instances within a single Availability Zone or across multiple Availability Zones. If a Classic Load Balancer is not configured to span multiple Availability Zones, it lacks the capability to reroute traffic to targets in another Availability Zone in the event that the sole configured Availability Zone becomes unavailable.
